Grampian Logs has been supplying high-quality dry logs across Aberdeenshire for over a decade. In 2024, GLG Farms, owned by the Galloway family near Arbroath, took over the business. We continue to operate from our distribution hub at Torphins.
The Galloway family has a rich farming heritage at East Balmirmer in Angus, on Scotland’s East Coast, where they have been farming for 70 years. Over the years, the farm has been involved in raising livestock and cultivating cereals, vegetables, potatoes, and daffodils. A growing interest in renewable energy led to the construction of a biomass-powered drying facility, enabling us to efficiently dry and store firewood logs and woodchip for fuel. With several years of experience in kiln-drying firewood, GLG Farms took over the management of Grampian and Angus Logs in June 2024.
As a family-operated rural business, we are committed to sustainability and reducing our environmental impact. Our logs are sourced from managed hardwood plantations or wind-fallen timber. We strive to minimise waste in our firewood production process, including using by-products to fuel our boilers for kiln drying the firewood.
Additionally, we’ve recently planted new woodlands covering 4 hectares, creating a vital habitat for local wildlife, including insects and birds.
